In the core of changing from your current CRM to vTiger CRM is data migration. Migration from vTigerCRM to vTiger CRM is mostly required when vTiger CRM upgrade process is not possible due to vTigerCRM database extensive customization. In such case, there are two possible methods:
- Use the existing database and make it go through the standard vTiger migration process
- Start fresh copy of vTiger CRM Instance and do a full export from your current vTiger then import the data into vTiger CRM database.
Both methods are fine but the first option may have some issues in the future, due to the fact that some of the vTiger functionality might break due to the altered database.
However, the second option would involve doing a full export from your current database and import the records/modules you request to the fresh vTiger CRM Instance. After the import is complete, you will have a fully functional vTiger CRM which can be upgraded to newer vTiger CRM versions.
In both options, if you want to keep the custom functionalities and/or entities that have been created in old vTiger CRM Instance, our vTiger CRM Custom Development team will rebuild the necessary functionalities and/or modules.
